Welcome to Cayuga Renaissance GYN
Cayuga Renaissance GYN is an all female medical practice team focusing on minimally invasive GYN care.
Established in July 2005 by Dr. Anna Marie Garcia, MD, PhD, FACOG, MIGS, as a comprehensive gynecologic practice, our focus is on addressing the broad range of women’s GYN needs throughout their lifespan, in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.
Specializing in robotic, laparoscopic, vaginal as well as in-office hysteroscopic surgeries, we address numerous, complex gynecologic and incontinence issues in a minimally invasive manner, allowing our patients a rapid return to their normal lives.
Screening our patients for risk of hereditary cancer syndromes significantly drops the risks for familial cancers from developing in our patients.
With convenient locations in Cortland and Ithaca, New York, we are here to help our patients achieve their health care goals.
Treatment of Cervical Disorders
- We follow current ASCCP guidelines in cervical cancer screening and management. Cervical cancer prevention includes a Pap test and high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) screening. HPV can cause cervical, vulvar, mouth and throat cancer. Fortunately, we offer the Gardasil vaccine for prevention of these cancers. If a patient has an abnormal Pap or HPV test, we can assess the findings with colposcopy and treat, if indicated.
Treatment of Incontinence
Urinary incontinence is not a normal part of aging and can have up to a 90% cure rate. Addressing the underlying cause of incontinence significantly improves the ability to control bladder leakage. This can be managed by implementing conservative lifestyle changes, using medications, and through minimally invasive, outpatient surgery, depending on the diagnosis. Urodynamics, which can help determine how the bladder and urethra are performing, can assist in diagnosis, when indicated.
Treatment of Uterine and Ovarian Disorders
Changes in menstrual bleeding pattern or bleeding after menopause may signal abnormal uterine pathology, such as fibroids, endometrial polyps, adenomyosis, even malignancy.
Evaluation for uterine abnormalities and management can often be done in the comfort of the office.
Ovarian cysts and masses as well as fibroids are assessed by ultrasound in the office and managed according to their findings, conservatively, medically or surgically.
Treatment of Pelvic Pain
Pelvic pain and/or pain with intercourse can originate from different sources. The most common causes are pelvic floor dysfunction, uterine and ovarian causes, gastrointestinal or urinary tract causes as well endometriosis. Determining the correct cause is imperative to properly treat the source of pain.
Treatment of Vulva Disorders
Vulvar disorders vary from vulvadynia (pain) to vulvar dystrophies, infection or even malignant changes.
